This ‘order system’ is a complete farce. Launching on New Years Eve when many folks are preoccupied with family and friends, I noted the email regarding DefCon1 and on returning home after this evening’s party followed the link to place my order. All sold out. With this much demand and customers wanting to give you money why not just print more games to satisfy demand. Crazy.
Hi Peter,
I’m sorry for that, but as described in the “mobilisation plan” page you may reserve a copy during the months-long development phase simply by sending an email. If you don’t, you will unfortunately find yourself in the same situation of a guy trying to buy a ticket for a Metallica concert 10 minutes before the show starts.
As already explained several times, we are a very small publishing company, with small print runs, and a very dedicated fan base. It could appear absurd to someone, but we would like to stay that way.
Pre order if you want a copy. It’s a well established fact that TRL games sell out extremely quickly, normally within days. You may be lucky enough to pick up one of the strategic reserve copies.
Cheers
Paul
But even when you play the game and follow the OPORD engagement rules you can find… your reservations don’t work out. I don’t want TRL to be something they don’t want to be, but maybe there could be a better logistical management done. If cash flow is the bottleneck, don’t make it worse by releasing the supplies until the requisitioning units get their needs met first.
I am frustrated since this could be the 2-4 time my OPORD request gets… stymied.
Unfortunately, I cannot check my status in my account to see if I have filled out the forms all right or not. Small print runs of 50 and 250 are not significantly different only up front cost happen, so I just get frustrated by an opaque system that keeps me away from great games.
Who knows, maybe 2 copies are still being built for me. Maybe I loose out for being passionate about these games and frustrated again and voicing it out.
I wish everyone a Happy New Year
Mike
Mike, I’m sorry for that but the EXORD communication was sent to reserved copy owners on December 23rd, and there was until December 31st to get it. So, a whole week and not just a few hours.
If you had a reserved copy and didn’t check your email, the EXORD message ended up in the spam, or you were caught in a SNAFU situation, simply let me know. We have a small strategic reserve for that 🙂
